SMART free movie tickets :)

On my first day of IV Training, we were sent home early and so planned to go out and spend the remaining times at Greenhills and invited them to eat Banapple. So after eating we decided to check out the place and look around. We passed by Starbucks and Flap Jacks. Between them is SMART event with games and prizes. We were checking out the new Xbox game and they were inviting us to try it. And we were asked if we would want to win movie tickets. All we have to do is just play. The games is someone must read and memorize a sentence, and pass it to another and pass it to another the last person will send a message to number they will give. The most number of correct words wins! They need 4 participants in each team. but we were only 3 and still allowed us to play. while waiting for our opponents, we practiced and planned a strategy. twas fun! :) so while waiting, a new game started. the very famous "Bring Me". The first item that was asked was a Smart Phone. I have mine but was too nervous to get it in my bag. and we were too far, and so the second that was asked was money. 30 pesos in 3 10 peso coins. we lost again. then the last needs 3 winners. she asked for a valid ID. so being a proud RN. i quickly reached into may wallet and got my license and ran to the Emcee and showed her my ID. My friend and I won two free movie tickets each. Then the game of "Pass the Message" our game then started. Reyna was first. She read it and passed it on to Toni. then passed it on to me. having the advantage of having a qwerty phone, i was little fast enough to beat the other team. We got 20 correct words while the other team only got 10. as our prized we were given 3 umbrellas. we were quite disappointed with it coz we were promised to win movie tickets. and so we got it! :) we got a total of 7 movie tickets which we can use until October of this year. and we can use it either on GH Cinema or Promenade. Yesss! Finally I can finally experience to watch a movie there! :)

Sorry for the dark image. :) my movie tickets! Thanks SMART!! :D

Day 3 Judgement Day

Oh yes. Finally the last day. But then i could hardly breathe. Went to training early. The preceptors gave us a paper where we can sign in our name so we could finish early. its like first-come-first-served basis. Patty and I thought it is for the actual insertion so we decided to wait for Reyna. Then we realized the line was for also for the other procedures. we signed up on number 49 to 52 i guess. Even we are too nervous we even had the guts to laugh around. I would joke on calling Reyna's name and laugh when i see her horrified expression that she's next. :)) It would somehow ease our nerves and forget the dreadful feeling of being tense. Before lunch the three of us entered the room and was assigned to different preceptors. then it began. we were really giving our effin' best to pass. after one procedure and another we were feeling less nervous and a little more confident. Until the last leg. the actual IV Insertion. We were the last participant that was left. It was Reyna's first turn to insert on Patty (she got number 1 on draw-lots! :D) due to unexpected events, she was not successful on first attempt. Then on 2nd, she got it! :) My turn. It should have been Reyna. But the preceptors said that it would be a blind shot. and i could not palpate the vein so I tried on Patty. On the cephalic area also. i got at first attempt. Yey! Then Patty also had me on my right cephalic area on first attempt. it was indeed a success for us! We were all happy that we survived IVT. and another thing to survive. completion of cases. :) The experience was fun but what's more FUN is deeper level of friendship with this two girls! :) Love them! <3
Patty, Reyna and I after the success of IV insertion. Why so sad guys? :)
Of course, i wouldn't forget these! :)

Day 2 IVT

Here comes day 2. I was not early enough to choose my place. I would love to sit in front so I can see how the procedures are done for tomorrows return demonstration. Yes! Ret-Dem. The last time i had my Ret-Dem was our duty at Ortho. Anyway back to topic. We started another day of discussing and demonstrating how to perform the procedures. Then post test. I admit. I cheated. Who doesn't is a genius. :) HAHA. And they were giving off the answers anyway. While on break we are practicing to locate our veins on each other. I would practice on Reyna. Reyna on Patty. Then Patty to yours truly. i was not afraid to be hurt coz we will be inserting IV canulas to an actual person. I was afraid if could make it to first attempt. So then I practiced my inserting skills on Toni with the guidance of Maro. (She's already an IV Therapist) We went to the drugstore to buy IV canula gauge 20. on my first attempt, it was too shallow so I didn't have any back flow (blood). On my 2nd attempt, I chose the bigger vein on the cephalic area. That's the area in line with your thumb. Then boom!! I got it! :) After that success I was feeling a little proud of myself and I wanna do it again! Really! Then Reyna tried it also on Toni's right cephalic area. On first attempt, it was a success! Good Job Reyna! :)) Then after practicing the insertion, i read/memorized the procedures which will be recited and demonstrated at the same time. Depending on your preceptors. Some just want you to do the procedures. Some just let you recite it. And some wants you do to both! :) So i really tried my very best to study the material the whole night. Really nervous for day 3.

IVT Training

Since I got my license last April, the first step I took from being Registered Nurse is to take my Intravenous Therapy at SanJuan with my friends Reyna and Patty. I was really excited cause for some reason, my bum life would stop for at least 3 days. i have money, and i'm learning again about my chosen career. With too much excitement, I got sick 2 days before my training. Speaking of great timing right? But my determination didn't stop me not to attend. I've been waiting my whole life for this. Then May 27 came, I'm nursing myself and at the same time wake up early for my first day. I met up with Patty at Mcdo then we went to the conference feeling a little anxious. We signed up for the attendance and we received our materials. After a couple of minutes Reyna came then of course like normal girls do, we chat and laughed non-stop. The training then started and while the preceptors were discussing i remembered that familiar feeling... Getting bored on class! Then the excitement slowly disappears into my system. So of course, we reviewed the basics which is kind of boring coz we know it all already. We also had a pre-test to test our stock knowledge I guess. :) I want to learn the procedures already. But then I have to wait for Day2. We had free snacks. For our morning break, they gave us puto and coffee :) Puto which Reyna's favorite coz she took another bag to bring home :D HAHA. *peace Reyna! :) and for lunch we had Giniling with boiled egg. Thank God for boiled egg coz without it i wouldn't be eating my lunch. Well, 3,500 that really paid off. We were sent home early that day. Yipeee! Just like college!! When I got home, I literally read my notes and my book so I could answer tomorrows post test. Then.. here comes day 2!
